![]() This type of transistor biasing arrangement is also beta-dependent biasing as the steady-state condition of operation is a function of the transistors beta β value, so the biasing point will vary over a wide range for transistors of the same type as the characteristics of the transistors will not be exactly the same. This two resistor biasing network is used to establish the initial operating region of the transistor using a fixed current bias. The circuit shown is called as a “fixed base bias circuit”, because the transistors base current, I B remains constant for given values of Vcc, and therefore the transistors operating point must also remain fixed. Hence the Q point can be adjusted just by changing the value of the resistor connected to the base. And by using the current gain (β) relationship, I C can also be found out accordingly. Thus, by merely changing the value of the resistor the base current can be adjusted to the desired value. In this condition, a single power source is applied to the collector and base of the transistor using only two resistors. Fixed Base Biasing a Transistor: Fixed Base Biasing in BJT One of the most frequently used biasing circuits for a transistor circuit is with the self-bias of the emitter-bias circuit where one or more biasing resistors are used to set up the initial DC values of transistor currents, ( I B ), ( I C ) and ( I E ). In other words, the output current flows for the full 360 o of the input cycle. This mode of operation allows the output current to increase and decrease around the amplifiers Q-point without distortion as the input signal swings through a complete cycle. When a bipolar transistor is biased so that the Q-point is near the middle of its operating range, that is approximately halfway between cut-off and saturation, it is said to be operating as a Class-A amplifier. This central operating point is called the “Quiescent Operating Point”, or Q-point for short. The correct biasing point for a bipolar transistor, either NPN or PNP, generally lies somewhere between the two extremes of operation with respect to it being either “ fully-ON” or “fully-OFF” along its load line. Transistor Biasing Transistor Biasing:Įstablishing the correct operating point requires the proper selection of bias resistors and load resistors to provide the appropriate input current and collector voltage conditions. To make it less of a hassle, we can insert a toggle switch in the circuit so that we can just toggle the lever of the toggle switch if we want to turn ON or OFF the light bulb, instead of connecting or disconnecting the electrical plug.Transistor Biasing is the process of setting a transistors DC operating voltage or current conditions to the correct level so that any AC input signal can be amplified correctly by the transistor. So to turn ON the light bulb, we’ll insert the electrical plug to the outlet and to turn it off, we’ll disconnect the plug from the outlet. I hope you can imagine it, in reality, the light bulb is connected to the AC mains or wall outlet through an electrical plug and zip-cord. In figure 3, we can see a schematic diagram of a light bulb connected directly to the AC mains. So basically, an SPST toggle switch is simply an ON-OFF switch with two terminals (A & B) that can be connected together or disconnected from each other by toggling the lever (actuator). An SPST switch has one pole and one throw, so it can only control one circuit and its pole can be connected to one terminal only. The number of poles in a switch determines how many separate circuits the switch can control while the throw-count of a switch tells us how many positions each of the switch’s poles can be connected to. In figure 2, you can see a single-pole, single-throw (SPST) toggle switch and the circuit symbol of an SPST switch. A switch is an electrical or electronic device that can open or close a circuit, stopping or allowing the flow of current in a circuit.

AltoEdge USBĪs far as the eye can tell, the AltoEdge foot pedal has the exact same design as the Infinity. Simply plug the pedal into your device’s USB port, and your computer will automatically install the USB drivers. How to install the Infinity foot pedal: Infinity pedals are plug-and-play, so you don’t need to install any software from the manufacturer. Additionally, many transcription companies recommend the Infinity pedal for use with their proprietary software. Why you should use the Infinity pedal: The Infinity pedal is widely used by professional transcriptionists due to its reliability and compatibility with almost all digital transcription software, including Express Scribe Pro, The FTW Transcriber, InqScribe, and many other programs. My foot is at just a slight angle when using the Infinity pedal, which reduces fatigue and long-term stress. As a former RSI sufferer, I appreciate this close-to-the-floor effect, which is different from the chunkier, squarish design of some transcription pedals. The Infinity’s sleek ergonomic design features a sloped center button for easy pivoting to the side buttons. ![]() The buttons give low resistance, so you can use the pedal for long periods without getting tired. ![]() It has anti-slip backing and is heavy enough to stay in place while you’re using it. This highly popular three-button foot pedal replaces the discontinued Infinity IN-USB-1. Infinity IN-USB-2įirst up, the foot pedal we all know about already, and the one I currently use – the Infinity pedal from VEC Electronics. Now that we know what we’re after, let’s check out some transcription foot pedals. The pedals I recommend here are all well-known makes engineered for long-term heavy use. Many pro transcriptionists keep a second foot pedal on hand so they won’t miss a deadline if their current one breaks. That said, even the best foot pedals can’t be expected to last forever. If you do transcription for a living, there’s no getting around it – your foot pedal is going to take a beating, so it should be built to last. Everyone is built a little differently, so you may need to test a couple of different ergonomic transcription foot pedals to find out what’s most comfortable for you over the long term. Therefore, ergonomics is an important consideration when choosing the best foot pedal for transcription work. With all repetitive motions – however easy – there’s the risk of developing a repetitive stress injury. Strain produced by this movement is minimal however, because you’re moving your foot up and down, it becomes a repetitive motion. ![]() With standard transcription foot pedals, your heel acts as an anchor while you control audio playback with your toes. (Check out my recommendations for the best audio transcription software and get an exclusive discount on a pro license.) Additionally, I’ve selected the foot pedals in this list based on their compatibility with a wide range of digital transcription software. All the foot pedals here are compatible for both Mac and PC. Your foot pedal must be compatible with your computer’s operating system as well as your transcription software. There are three things you’ll need to consider when choosing a transcription foot pedal: Since USB connections are vastly more common nowadays, I’ve only included USB foot pedals here. Pedals for transcription may connect either via serial or USB port. However, you can often change these functions around in your transcription software. In a typical configuration, the middle button is set to the Play function, and the left and right buttons are typically set to Rewind and Fast-Forward respectively. Tips for choosing a foot pedal for audio transcriptionįoot pedals designed for audio transcription usually have three buttons. Here, I’ll share four of the best transcription foot pedals that are compatible with popular transcription software such as Express Scribe and The FTW Transcriber.īut first, a few pointers for selecting the best foot pedal for transcription work. As a new transcriptionist, this is the best way to quickly boost your transcription speed. ![]() Want to transcribe faster and ramp up your earnings? With a transcription foot pedal, you can control audio playback with your toes, freeing up your fingers for typing. A capella groups like pitchperfect9/1/2023 ![]() We’re competing against nine other a cappella groups (which I guess is like Pitch Perfect). ICCA stands for International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. We are competing in the 2019 ICCA Great Lakes a cappella competition that is happening this Saturday at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago at 7 pm. This year, we’ve decided to really challenge ourselves. Even our rehearsals aren’t just another practice session it’s a chance to catch up with our friends, to laugh about old jokes, challenge ourselves, and just do what we love. This gives us an even greater connection to the music, and gives our members chances to show off more than just our singing. All of the songs that we have sung have been arranged by one of our members. One of the most interesting things that I love about this group, though, are our arrangements that we sing. With such a small ensemble, every person counts, and this challenges us even more. I don’t have eight other women singing my part that could help me if I mess up. However, Identity Crisis’ small size gives room for even more opportunities, not just as a group, but as a soloist as well. It’s an incredible opportunity to be able to sing with such amazing and talented women. Even now, I am in Cantala, Lawrence University’s all women choir. All of these different groups have given me different experiences. ![]() I have sung in ensembles ever since elementary school, and I’ve been in all women and mixed groups, as well as vocal jazz ensembles. In fact, it gives us the ability to be a more close-knit group, with the smaller number giving us more of a chance to give each person a voice. Unlike most larger groups, there are only 8 members in our ensemble. ![]() My group, Identity Crisis, was created last year by several students interested in having another a cappella group on campus besides Appletones. But it is not just what is shown on the big screen. Like Beca from Pitch Perfect, I too am in an a cappella group. However, that is not what all a cappella is like. They imagine Anna Kendrick performing on stage with the rest of the Barden Bellas, and winning the competition. When you think of a cappella groups, most people think of Pitch Perfect.

Dendrite structure 19999/1/2023 ![]() On the solid-liquid interface, we can define a surface energy γ s l This instability has two causes: anisotropy in the surface energy of the liquid-solid interface and the attachment kinetics of particles to crystallographic planes when they have formed. This formation will at first grow spherically until this shape is no longer stable. the first appearance of solid growth, in the supercooled liquid. Dendrite formation ĭendrite formation starts with some nucleation, i.e. This model uses the microscopic structure of the material and uses the general understanding of nucleation to accurately predict how a dendrite will grow. Nowadays the best understanding for dendritic crystals comes in the form of the macroscopic continuum model which assumes that both the solid and the liquid parts of the system are continuous media and the interface is a surface. This breakthrough lead to the microscopic solvability condition theory (MSC), however this theory still failed since although for isotropic surface tension there could not be a steady solution, it was experimentally shown that there were nearly steady solutions which the theory did not predict. This result meant that a system with a steady needle growth solution necessarily needed to have some type of anisotropic surface tension. Through this they found that the problem for isotropic surface tension had no solutions. Microscopic solvability condition Ī decade later several groups of researchers went back to the Nash-Glicksman problem and focused on simplified versions of it. ![]() At the time however Langer and Müller-Krumbhaar were unable to obtain a stability criterion for certain growth systems which lead to the MSH theory being abandoned. They claimed a system would be unstable for small σ causing it to form dendrites. This hypothesis used a stability parameter σ which depended on the thermal diffusivity, the surface tension and the radius of the tip of the dendrite. In the following two years Glicksman improved the numerical methods used, but did not realise the non-linear integro-differential equation had no mathematical solutions making his results meaningless.įour years later, in 1978, Langer and Müller-Krumbhaar proposed the marginal stability hypothesis (MSH). This became known as the maximum velocity principle (MVP) but was ruled out by Glicksman and Nash themselves very quickly. However they only found an inaccurate numerical solution close to the tip of the needle and they found that under a given growth condition, the tip velocity has a unique maximum value. The first theory for the creation of these patterns was published by Nash and Glicksman in 1974, they used a very mathematical method and derived a non-linear integro-differential equation for a classical needle growth. The first dendritic patterns were discovered in palaeontology and are often mistaken for fossils because of their appearance. Let your chicken strips sit in the batter before cooking it If you've prepared and refrigerated the strips, let them warm to closer to room temperature before you bake them. Since you're handling the chicken quite a bit before it's ready for the oven, the chicken shouldn't be very cold. If your chicken is really cold when you put it in the oven, the oven temperature will drop. And I replace it at least every 6 months. I always use a free-standing analog oven thermometer as my temperature guide. Ovens tend to drift out of accurate calibration easily. Make sure your oven is hot enough to make crispy chicken tendersĪ hot oven is key to baking the crispiest coated chicken. It would be easy to say, “just follow this recipe,” and you'll never go wrong.Īlthough I believe that's true, there are still a few tricks that can help guide you to success the very first time you make this recipe. I have never made a bad batch of gluten free chicken fingers using this method and recipe. The crispiest gluten free chicken tenders: tips, tricks, and troubleshooting Then, when it's nearly dinnertime, preheat your oven, bread the prepared chicken strips and place them on the baking sheet. Place the battered but unbreaded chicken pieces in the refrigerator. Then, toss all the chicken pieces in the batter and cover the bowl. Try slicing the chicken strips and making the batter in the morning, before your day begins. You can even prep this recipe to make it even simpler at dinnertime. One bite, and this delicious, crowd-pleasing, and healthy dinner will be on repeat every week! Dinner in 20 minutes flat! I basically adapted my recipe for Oven Fried Chicken to make these nuggets adding a few extra steps, and frying of course. These gluten free chicken tenders, with the crispiest crust and the juiciest chicken, are breaded the easy, no-mess way. Now, are you ready for a little bite of heaven with these nuggets? I will note that I prefer minimal salt so if you like them saltier, by all means add a bit more. Nice, right? That is just a day in the life of a picky eater. I was happy to see that even my picky eater loved these at least the first day, the next day he decided he was over chicken. ![]() It’s simply a switch of flour, that’s it! It’s super easy to make these at home with a simple switch of flour. How do you make Gluten Free Chick-Fil-A Nuggets? These nuggets are as simple as switching the flour from an all-purpose flour to a gluten free all-purpose flour. ![]() I love their Polynesian Sauce, which is next on my list to try to make at home. These would go perfectly paired with your favorite dipping sauce. I try to avoid having that oil in our home since the kitchen would quickly become cross-contaminated. I know they use peanut oil however, I opted for a vegetable oil because we have peanut allergies in our family. Should you use Peanut Oil in Copycat Chick-Fil-A nuggets? Now, my version is likely not exactly like theirs, but it is extremely close. I also realized how easy they actually are to make at home. Thankfully I was able to make my own version of their nuggets only gluten free. ![]() ![]() Luckily, about this time is when they introduced grilled nuggets, so I have come to enjoy those, but I still long for those crispy nuggets. I know that is just sad, but what can I say, it is the life of an addict.Īs soon as I went gluten free I had that sudden realization that I could no longer pick up a box of my favorite nuggets. Seriously, I go there too often and lately I have been trying to just stick with a side salad or fruit instead of the fries but they call to me in my sleep. Of course, worse than the nuggets, I am addicted to those amazing waffle fries. I will admit I am a Chick-fil-a nugget junky. They’re delicious with wheat flour too, so gluten free or not, this is a winning recipe! These Gluten Free Chicken Nuggets taste just like Chick-Fil-A.

Minimalist tea length wedding dress9/1/2023 If the idea of wearing a miniskirt on your wedding day rubs you up the wrong way, try a super short shirt with a semi-sheer overlay, like BHLDN's Cathy dress. With its halter neckline and flowing A-line skirt, this Halston Heritage dress is giving us serious Marilyn Monroe vibes.Ī slip dress may seem like a brave choice for your wedding day, but the Kadi dress by Halston Heritage is just so elegant. There's no reason why you can't do sexy on your wedding day, as proven by the slinky Empress dress by BHLDN! OK, so we probably wouldn't wear this one for a church ceremony, but for a city wedding in summer, it's an absolute knockout! If you told me last week that the first dress on this list would be a sequinned crochet minidress, I wouldn't have believed it, but the Consenza dress by French Connection is so much sweeter than it sounds on paper! This option would be perfect for brides who want a subtler alternative to sexy backless dresses.Dress by The Bridal Outlet | Photo by Emma Russell Photography via One Fab Day Short Wedding Dresses: White Mini DressesĪ miniskirt on your wedding day may sound a bit risqué, but hey, they did it all the time in the '60s! You can add a backless illusion as pictured above or opt for an illusion neckline or sleeves. Make your minimalist wedding dress look even more alluring with a few see-through details. Take some notes from real bride, Yessa's minimalist wedding dress for her all-white wedding in Bali. Choose one with an intriguingly simple cut and modern aesthetics. If you're throwing a chic celebration filled with geometric shapes or other contemporary details, you need a dress that suits the occasion. A loose, flowing skirt can add an ethereal touch to your whole ensemble. Avoid puffy gowns with tulle underskirts, as there are other ways to maintain an understated elegance. Keep things simple doesn't mean not being able to play around with your skirt. As this length was very popular back in the day, it will be perfect for a vintage-themed wedding. A tea-length hem usually falls between the calf and ankles, providing modesty and versatility at the same time. If you prefer a longer skirt but still want to move freely, try a tea-length dress. But as we've shown you above, a short dress can also look very modern, or even sexy when styled right. You might think that short dresses will you look too "cute" and not as elegant as you want. ![]() Thanks to its hassle-free length, the short wedding dress is a popular option for more casual brides. A few strategically-placed patterns and details are all you need to add dimension to a simple wedding dress. ![]() You don't need to cover a whole gown with elaborate beads and appliqués to make it beautiful. You might not associate patterns with simplicity, but this dress will change your mind. We don't recommend wearing this kind of dress for a ballroom reception, however, as you can easily disappear without a wedding gown that really stands out. If you love everything simple and sleek, this option is for you. Even without intricate beading or any decorative details whatsoever, a long gown can still look pretty enough for an intimate celebration.
